Here we are with the holidays upon us. Can you believe it? As I type this I can smell something delicious in the oven which we will share with family over Thanksgiving dinner (US Edition) tonight. Hopefully you find yourself warm of body and heart. If you can manage, maybe find a way that is meaningful to you to extend your warmth to others in need.

One way of trying to bridge the marketplace and the desire to do right by our community is to seek out places where these values meet. That is one of the reasons I really enjoy participating in the Ottawa Valley Crafts & Collectibles Guild (OVCC) Joy! show. The organizers do their utmost to showcase the varied talents of Ottawa and Outaouais area artisans, to promote the local small businesses as well as to shine a light on a charity. This year, the OVCC Joy! show will donate the proceeds from the $2 admission to "Sit With Me" dog rescue and "Adopt Me" cat rescue.

The Joy! runs for two days but please note that I will be there on the Saturday Nov 28, 2015 only. This will be my last show of the season.

If you are not able to come by tomorrow but are interested in browsing my work, the National Gallery of Canada Bookstore carries a selection of SeaCycledGlass Jewelry. My Etsy store and Web store will be active throughout December and I will add new listings regularly. If you wish to send a gift from my store, I can ship directly to the recipient if you add their information in the shipping address form.

Here is some more information about OVCC's Joy!:

Last 613flea of the season, so if you havn't checked it out yet, you'll not want to miss your chance!

613flea is a not-for-profit marketplace where Ottawa's creative community along with entrepreneurs and small businesses can showcase their products and creations to shoppers.  Artisans, artists, designers, entertainers and makers come together with antiques dealers, independent boutiques, food merchants and vintage clothing vendors to create an amazing market that is fun, fabulous and free to visit!

Excited to be participating in an Open House with Tracy Armstrong and Bev Thibault on Sunday November 8, 2015 from 1-4 pm at 33 Promenade Ave., Ottawa ON. Please do come by!

Tracy Armstrong
Tracy Armstrong creates original abstract art with a focus on the color, movement and texture of our natural world.

As I delve into my art, I realize how much I am drawn to the natural line rock formations, the patterns formed on an old stone wall, the movement of water, and the shades of colour in our changing seasons. I am awestruck by the beauty of rust — yes, rust is beautiful! I see nature, shapes, and patterns with new perspective, noticing and relishing the subtleties around me. Found objects, recycled materials, and the printed word are all full of potential, a collage of ideas that could lead to a new painting. When combined, acrylics and mixed media lead to unlimited possibilities, changing and becoming something different from their original form.

Bev Thibault
A child's hug, giggles amongst friends, or a savoured moment of quiet ~ my paintings depict the joys of a woman's life. The figures in my work deliberately lack facial features so viewers can easily see themselves in the piece. Using limited palettes of bright saturated colours laid with bold yet economical brush strokes, I seek to convey the ephemerality of life's simple pleasures.

Kristina Rudnitski (me!)
Each piece of SeaCycledGlass jewelry is handmade by me from genuine sea glass that I have collected from the beach. I use mostly sterling silver as this complements sea glass beautifully. My designs are contemporary, modernist, and whimiscal.

I am an environmentalist and artist, living in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Being Eco and Chic are both important to me and are in no way mutually exclusive! My professional background relates to environmental science and international chemicals policy. My passion is grounded in combining the arts and science of sustainable living through environmentally responsible design. For the past 20 years, I have explored various media to express my passion including stained glass, oil painting, building my studio in the urban woods, feng shui, and now sea glass jewelry.
