White sea glass is more accurately called frosted clear colorless sea glass. A chemical additive is included during manufacturing to react with the iron oxides to decolorize the mixture, that is, to create a clear colorless glass that allows the consumer to see the actual color of the contents of the container. Spirits such as rum, vodka and gin are often sold in clear colorless glass, as are food condiments, solvents, and inks.
